The Trumbull Rangers Football Program is a member of the the Fairfield County Football League (FCFL).
Our focus is on youth development to prepare our players to be successful at the high-school level. Our league consists of other towns in the FCIAC, and our schedule is similar to that of the high school.

Programs:

Modified Travel Flag (MTF): Grades 2-4 (3rd & 4th Graders can choose between MTF and Tackle).
*Registration fee: $350
*Add $3 admin fee to all orders.

MTF: Modified Travel Flag is a combined 2nd through 4th Grade Flag Football Team with the addition of "real" football equipment.  Players wear full tackle equipment (helmet, shoulder pads and football pants).  The goal is to teach proper blocking techniques, ball handling, and other football skills. Players also wear flag football belts around their waist and players pull flags off to make a “tackle.” The Trumbull Rangers MTF Team will play 9v9 vs other towns in the FCFL, on an 80x40 yard field. The season will culminate in playoffs and a champion, just like the older Travel Tackle Teams. The Trumbull Rangers MTF Team will practice 1 or 2 days per week and play 1 game on the weekend, and the season runs from Late-August until Early-November.

*Note: Most other modified flag programs outside of the FCFL do not provide helmets or shoulder pads; they require those to be purchased by the players (cost of hundreds of dollars). Trumbull provides that equipment to our players.

*MTF will start practice in mid-late Aug.

Tackle Football: Grade 3-4/5/6/7/8
(3rd Graders wishing to play tackle are eligible to play with the 4th Grade Team).

*Returning Player Registration Fee Prior to May 31st: $475
*New Player Registration Fee Prior to May 31st: $575
*Registration fee from June 1st - July 31st: $850
*Add $3 admin fee to all orders.

*3rd/4th Grade Team is an introduction to Tackle (with competitive games, playoffs, and a champion).

*5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade are highly competitive Grade Based Travel Tackle Football Programs that compete in the Fairfield County Football League. Each Grade will field its own team.

*Games are played on Sat or Sun.

*Practice begins in Early-August, and teams will practice 5 days/week until Labor day.

*All practices are mandatory (for safety reasons, players who miss practices will not play that week). All game/practice absences must be communicated to the Coaching Staff ahead of time.

*
After Labor Day, 4th Grade will practice 2-3 days/week. 5th and 6th Grade will practice 3 days/week. The 7th and 8th Grade should plan on a commitment of 5 days/week from Early-August through the end of November. Due to weather expect practice schedules to vary.

*On the days that in-person practices are not held, players will be expected to study the playbook, and complete other at-home tasks that the coaching staff assigns.

*Tackle football is an enormous undertaking. This is not a sport you can just show up to and compete. If you are unable to make this level of commitment, or if your child faces a safety concern, please understand that Tackle Football requires many hours per week of demanding physical and mental preparation. It is important that both parents and players understand what is expected of them from the outset. There are no practice squads or non-rostered players. All players on the team must be able to take the field with the desire and ability to compete and fully participate in a very intense, physical environment. The safety not just of that player, but of the players around them, depend on it.

VOLUNTEERING:
*We rely solely on our volunteers to make the program work.
*All Families are required to volunteer to assist for one game during the season (snack stand, chains, mpr's, field set-up and clean-up, etc).
*Coaching does not fulfill this requirement.
*Any family who does not wish to volunteer can pay an extra $100 to opt out (check box on registration).
*Tip: Volunteer for a game that is before or after your son's. Games are 2 hours max and we really need the help.
